Biography

Eric DeForest, Tenor

Eric DeForest is a candidate for his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance with an Opera Emphasis at the University of Texas. His operatic roles include Nemorino in The Elixir of Love, Monostatos in The Magic Flute, Terasias in Antigone, Basilio in The Marriage of Figaro and Oronte in Alcina.
Mr. DeForest performed with the Australian American Mozart Academy in Salzbourg (Austria) in the roles of Tamino in The Magic Flute, Dr. Engle in Der Schauspieldirektor, Count Belfiore in La Finta Giardiniera and Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus. With AAMA he also served as stage director for productions of Der Schauspieldirektor and Bastien und Bastienne.
Mr. DeForest appeared as the tenor soloist Handel's Messiah, Bach and Saint-Saens's Christmas Oratorio, Hadyn's Creation, Mozart's Requiem, with many Operas, including the Fredonia Chamber Players, The Buffalo Philarmonic Orchestra, The Westmpreland Symphony Orchestra of Pennsylvania and West Virginia University Symphony Orchestra.
Mr. DeForest has taught Voice at The University of Charleston. He has also held positions as a teaching assistant in voice and vocal pedagogy at both West Virginia University and The University of Texas. He has maintained a private studio since 1991 and is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
This is Eric DeForest's first season with Lyrique en Mer. He will sing Remendado in Carmen and Monostatos in The Magic Flute.
